Friends and Family keeping in touch

It feels good to keep in touch with friends and family. Recently my volume of personal emails has been increasing with more communications from Friends and Family.
My cousin will be comming to visit from Austria, a good friend in far away China is trying to connect more, and I have had this need to communicate with other past college friends. I don't know if this has something to do with what happened as Dawson, but to me it has always been imoportant, and keeping up communications is a two way thing. I better start maintaining it better than I was.

So let this be a start for all of you, I will try to post more often and more details.

Reasons why the English language is so hard to learn:

1) The bandage was wound around the wound.
2) The farm was used to produce produce.
3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.
4) We must polish the Polish furniture.
5) He could lead if he would get the lead out.
6) The soldier decided to desert his dessert in the desert.
7) Since there is no time like the present, he thought it was time to present the present.
8) A bass was painted on the head of the bass drum.
9) When shot at, the dove dove into the bushes.
10) I did not object to the object.
11) The insurance was invalid for the invalid.
12) There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.
13) They were too close to the door to close it.
14) The buck does funny things when the does are present.
15) A seamstress and a sewer fell down into the sewer line.
16) To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow how to sow.
17) The wind was too strong to wind the sail.
18) After a number of injections my jaw got number.
19) Upon seeing the tear in the painting I shed a tear.

English is a crazy language

Let's face it - English is a crazy language.
There is no egg in eggplant - nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple.
English muffins weren't invented in England or French fries in France.
Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat.
We take English for granted - but if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square, and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.
And why is it that writers write, but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce, and hammers don't ham?
If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth beeth??
One goose - two geese. So, one moose, 2 meese?
One index, 2 indices?
Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends, but not one amend. If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it? If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, are humanitarians cannibals??
Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital?
Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell?
How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? And if I'm uncouth, are you couth?
P.S. Why doesn't Buick rhyme with quick????

Party!

Rain Rain go away come again some other Day!
Why is it whenever we have an outdoor Party that it Rains!
These things take so long to organize, and somany people come, that it is not something that can be changed or cancelled easily. Good thing that we had those tents to help protect from the elements, but 3 for 3 I don't like those odds.

Next party will it rain again? Or will we break this cycle!

It is hard to win any battle agains Mother Nature! :-)

"Truly Madly Deeply" by Savage Garden

"Truly Madly Deeply"

I'll be your dream I'll be your wish I'll be your fantasy
I'll be your hope I'll be your love Be everything that you need
I'll love you more with every breath Truly, madly, deeply do
I will be strong I will be faithful 'cause I'm counting on A new beginning
A reason for living
A deeper meaning, yeah

[chorus:]
I want to stand with you on a mountain
I want to bathe with you in the sea
I want to lay like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me

And when the stars are shining brightly in the velvet sky,
I'll make a wish send it to heaven Then make you want to cry
The tears of joy for all the pleasure in the certainty
That we're surrounded by the comfort and protection of
The highest powers
In lonely hours
The tears devour you

[chorus]

Oh can you see it baby?
You don't have to close your eyes
'Cause it's standing rightbefore you
All that you need will surely come
I'll be your dream I'll be your wish I'll be your fantasy
I'll be your hope I'll be your love Be everything that you need
I'll love you more with every breath Truly, madly, deeply do

[chorus]

I want to stand with you on a mountain
I want to bathe with you in the sea
I want to live like this forever
Until the sky falls down on me

Habs fever :-(

Habs Hockey is over for another season. The Habs had an amazing game last night, but Ward was like a wall, and it was extreemly difficult to get anything past him. If the Canadiens had played like that all season, they would probably still be in the race for the cup. But until next year, the Habs fever will die down.

Google Earth!

I have known about Google earth for quite some time now, and have used it several times in the past several months, but never tot he extent that I did this past weekend.

I traced down to the levels of my parents' homes in Europe, and created pointers. I also created pointers for ALL of the places I have ever lived. I am now in the process of tracing out my Europe trip that I did almost 15 years ago. I would like to create pointers for all of my vacation spots that I have visited, as well as a folder for all of my buisiness trips. I realy like it, and find it something realy worthwhile to then later look at with the kids.

Try it, but you need a highspeed link to get the streamig updates

Car troubles... Knee...

I haven't written in the BLOG for a while, so lets start...

I haven't had a car accident since I started driving. Not a bad record at all, and something to be proud of. This year started off bad, the first Thursday back, I lost control of the car in the slush on the left side of the passing lane, and bumped into the devider. This little bump, combined with the slushy road conditions ended up throwing me into the guard rail on the right side of HW15 on the way into work. Good thing for the light traffic, because I did not touach another car. I a got out of the car without a scratch, and looked at the damage. It did not look like much, but I new I would not be able to drive it in this condition. The police came, and the report was done, the towing then came to pick up the car and I had it towed to my dealer.

It was there that the service guy first put doubt into my mind that the car was not repairable. The thing is if the repairs cost more than the car is woth the Quebec law requires the insurance to write the car off as a total loss.

So shopping for a new car stated. I informed myself on what my car was worth etc...

So being a very well informed buyer, I was able to deal a good price on a 2002 Ford Focus sedan with only 30 000KM on it! And bargaining with the insurance to get as much as possible for my escort, and also keep my winter tires.

Next was my second knee operation. Everyone kept asking me if I was nervous. And some people just would not stop. Arthoscopic surdery is very easy going and I walked out of there with no problems. There was nothing to worry about. 4-6 weeks before I can do full sports, but well woththe wait.

These have been rambligs on and bablings and may not make sense, but that is it, My BLOG!
